Stolen shopping trolleys littering suburban streets may become a rarer site as Woolworths launches a new phone app that locates lost trolleys and helps them get back to the nearest supermarket.
The new Trolley Tracker app will allow local people to report an abandoned Woolworths or BIG W trolley with an internet-enabled phone.
Trolley Services Australia has developed the new app which will run alongside its already established Trolley Tracker hotline and website. The app uses the phone's inbuilt GPS systems to locate the position of the trolley.
Head of Woolworths store operations, Ziggy Kwarcinski, said the new app was all about making it easier for locals to rid their streets of stolen trolleys.
