COLES petrol stations could soon be more than just a pit stop as the supermarket giant plans to turn them into pick-up points for groceries ordered online.
According to the Australian Financial Review, Coles has begun trialling the new plan, which would change the way Australians do their shopping.
Under the ambitious Click and Collect plan, Coles' entire line of groceries and products can be purchased online and then picked up from one of 620 Coles Express petrol station stores nationwide between 3pm and midnight.
Trials began a few weeks ago, run out of Coles' carparks, and will continue until the company decides whether to roll out the scheme within six months.
Coles management hope the scheme will appeal to Australian consumers who have so far avoided shopping online.
