Coca-Cola has announced today its decision to extend its much talked about ‘Share A Coke’ campaign into 2012. The multinational beverage manufacturer is now asking Australians to nominate 50 new names to feature on bottles of Coke.

In October 2011, Coca-Cola started introduced 150 names to bottles and cans of Coke as part of its ‘Share A Coke’ campaign.

Coca-Cola South Pacific’s Marketing Director, Lucie Austin said, “The response from consumers and their interactions with the campaign has far exceeded our expectations. We’ve received a tremendous amount of requests for specific names to be included in the campaign, so we’re asking them to nominate names and vote.”

Ms Austin said Coca-Cola had gained a 20 per cent increase in Facebook fans since the launch of the campaign, and generated 28,000 Facebook posts about the campaign to date.

In launching the second phase of the campaign today on Facebook, www.shareacoke.com.au, Coca-Cola is inviting Australians to nominate additional new names. The nomination phase will extend through 24 November 2011. Once nominations are received, Coca-Cola will post the final shortlist for public vote from 6 – 14 December 2011. The final 50 names will be announced in mid-December before going into production. Consumers can expect to see the selected names on retailer shelves in January 2012.
