Retailer the Coles Group is set to embrace cloud computing, along with a host of other new technologies.
Speaking at a recent Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) event, the group's general IT manager Conrad Harvey said that the firm will be rolling out a social networking programme internally and implementing cloud computing for both Coles and its customers, as well as embracing big data.
According to Computer World, Mr Harvey said that embracing the cloud would allow the company to make a number of advances, however, it would have to be wary of any crashes.
"The cloud leverage into the customer base has got some way to go and has to recover from incidents such as the Sony Playstation Network hacking, but I have no doubt that it will gain traction. That's because people will become more comfortable with being able to access whatever information they need," he added.
